Garrett damn near collapses when Dodger lets go of him, bracing himself heavily against the car. He really would like to pull his own pants up as well, but his legs aren't doing great at the whole supporting-his-weight thing. It's a relief to go back into Dodger's arms, so he can wrap his own arms around the man's neck for support during that kiss.

Dodger relaxes a bit, slipping his arms around Garrett's waist to help him balance. It's surprisingly cute to see Garrett like this, with his pants down and shirt open, grinning with a busted lip. "I love you." He murmurs, guiding Garrett to lean against the car hood so he can work on buttoning his shirt back up. "No one's gonna believe that fucker about what he saw. You're too good to be real."

Garrett leans against the wet metal and rests his hands behind him so Dodger has better access to his shirt.

Garrett pulls Dodger closer, but immediately winces when the fabric of his shirt touches the wound on his neck. While Dodger talks, he starts to heal himself, making sure (as he's gotten in the habit of doing) to heal only the actual wounds, and not the soreness the actual sex left behind.

"Satisfied is a good word for it," he answers, resting his chin on Dodger's head. "If you promise to let me take you horseback riding some day, I'll have mercy on you now."

Dodger snorts softly, snuggling into Garrett's chest and humming softly.

It feels nice to stay like this, wrapped up in Garrett's warm embrace and glowing from the aftermath of fucking him. The only thing that would make this better is a nap in his own bed.

His phone buzzes, and he buries his face in his boyfriend's chest. He is going to get his ass beat when he reports back.

Garrett kisses Dodger's head softly and agrees. They chit-chat a little on the way back, joking about what the old man will do when he gets home or who he'll try to tell. There are a couple jokes exchanged about what websites they'll find a lurid account of the events posted on. It's actually pretty nice- until they reach the rental place.

The atmosphere seems to tense up as soon as they drive onto the lot. Once they park, Garrett reaches his hand out and asks, "Give me the card. I'll pay for it, you stay outside."

He pulls the key out of the ignition, but makes no move to exit the car. He just stops, and stares Garrett down.

"I told you and I told her, I'm gonna return it and pay for the rental. You've never even rented a car before, why are you acting like I don't know what I'm doing?"

Things had been going so well until then. Why does Garrett always have to dampen the mood like this?

Garrett sighs. "I know you know what you're doing, I just thought it might be smoother if the person she's scared of stays outside. I don't like the thought of her getting an even longer look at you- or you being inside if police show up."

Yes, the whole thing puts him on edge. He doesn't want bae getting in trouble.

Dodger's brow furrows, and he sets his jaw with a low growl before answering.

"Garrett, look me in the eyes and tell me how recognizable I am. Do you think it makes a fucking difference if she sees me again? If I end up in a police line-up - first of all, I won't, because the cops here are in Augustine's pocket - but if I end up in a line-up, none of the other four guys are gonna have three giant scars on their faces."

And now, he makes a move to get out of the car - not teleporting, just so he can slam the door on his way out.

Garrett gets out as well and quickly moves to intercept Dodger. Taking him by the arm, Garrett leans in and give the man a beardy kiss on the cheek.

"Hey. Don't get angry, I just worry. I've read about what police are like in pretty much every version of America. Can you blame me?"

Dodger stops short, with his face burning. He feels like a child being chided, and something about that bothers him as much as it weirdly excites him.

"I can handle myself. I'm not dead yet, right?"

He pauses, and takes a deep breath. Slowly, his shoulders relax and he speaks with slightly less growl in his voice.

"I've been dodging the cops as long as I can remember. Trust me, I know this world better than you do, and I haven't been arrested yet. Not once."

Garrett nods, brows furrowed in concern. There's still some tension in his own bearing but he tries to relax a little as he look down at the other man.

"Sorry- in my world, the renegade fugitive boyfriend getting caught even once has a best-case scenario of permanent imprisonment, and worst-case involves being Tranquil. So... yeah, it's a little stressful to be so open about it."

That sinks in, better than most information Garrett's given him about Thedas. Dodger pauses, and lets his breath out in a soft sigh. With some hesitance, he reaches to take Garrett's hand.

"There's a lot of steps before permanent imprisonment, and 'permanent' only lasts until you find a way to break out." He squeezes Garrett's hand gently. "Let me do things my way. Just trust me, alright?"

His fingers lace with Dodger's instinctively. "Alright."

That's the best he can do, but there's one more thing Garrett has to ask. "Just... be nice to her. If you want to convince me to be a woman around you in public, it would help to see you talk to one without mentioning her tits."

"I haven't seen you as a woman yet. They might be too good to ignore." He retorts innocently, before letting go and turning to walk inside.

The receptionist startles when they walk in, and flinches when Dodger drops the keys on her desk. He's quiet for a moment, sizing her up and definitely staring at her chest again.

"Back in under six hours - shouldn't be too expensive, right?"

"No, sir. Just... put your card in once it lights up.

"Sure."

The air is tense between them, but Dodger doesn't say anything. The woman stares pointedly at her computer, trying not to focus on him, but her gaze keeps flickering up every so often.

Garrett is extremely tense the whole time, but to his surprise it goes without incident. They pay and leave, and he tips her an extra 20 for her trouble. The only notable thing is a comment he makes halfway through the train ride home - well after he's done thanking Dodger for the trip and exchanging sweet nothings.

"So, you really want to see me as a woman?" Garrett looks vaguely uncomfortable, mostly because he has suspicions that Dodger will be pretty sexist about the whole thing. "Given the whole treating you like a woman means fucking without foreplay thing, I'm a little concerned about how that will actually go. Can you even find the clitoris?"

Dodger turns to acknowledge him when Garrett starts to speak, but that question makes his eyes narrow.

"Yes, I know where the clitoris is. What, did you pick up on a meme somewhere?"

He rolls his eyes, turning back to watch the scenery pass by. He's silent for a few moments, before finally speaking again.

"I had a girlfriend for six years. That doesn't happen without being able to make her come."

"You'd be surprised," Garrett fires back sassily. "I knew married men who couldn't make their wives come if they had instructions and a map."

He nudges Dodger's foot with his own, offering up a charming little smile.

Dodger's gaze slides back to Garrett, and he lets out an amused little snort. Somehow, it's hard to keep the smile off his face when Garrett pulls out that sort of sass.

"You can figure it out, shouldn't be too tough." He shrugs, "Besides, you love the way I fuck you."

Which is followed by an equally charming smile.
