[There is zero response. 45 minutes later Garrett will be able to hear the sound of a motorcycle speeding by the apartment and parking, followed by the crackle of Dodger's teleportation.

Dodger bursts into form by the door, and the dogs crowd around him to say hi and whine to go out. Dodger shoves their snouts away, flashing sparks around his hands but not specifically aiming to hurt them. Just scare them backward.]

[Garrett is already on his feet when he hears the teleportation, but when Dodger flashes those sparks, Garrett closes the distance between them in a few long strides and seizes the man's wrist.]

Do you always say hello to dogs by trying to scare them?

[He keeps his smile up, looking almost friendly- except for his eyes.]

[He reiterates it sharply, as if Garrett hadn't heard it.]

[The friendly demeanor snaps abruptly into a blurry sort of anger.]

Instead he's gonna back off, storm back to the couch, and pick up his bottle of whiskey.]

[Dodger looks a little surprised when Garrett backs off. He'd been gearing up for a fight and now it's just... not happening.

His gaze slides down to the bottle, and his eyes narrow.]

Have you been doing anything except sampling the liquor cabinet today?

[Hopefully not looking through the notes and photos on the walls of Dodger's room. He's antsy enough about Garrett being in his space, and he'd rather assume Garrett is staying out of there.]

[He takes a swig of whiskey, trying not to wince at a weird twinge in his shoulder when he moves wrong.]

Yes, I've been running errands, exercising, and getting to know my new city. It's been a wonderful day.

[Dodger lets out a frustrated breath through his nose, and reluctantly walks over to slip onto Garrett's lap and straddle him. Close, but he's sitting back on Garrett's knees, still watching him with a hint of annoyance.]

I'll find you a new apartment when I have time.

[Garrett sighs in annoyance of his own, the frustration writ large in his chiseled features. He feels antsy, like he's crawling out of his skin. He wants to hit something.]

Oh good, and until you have the time I'll be a happy little prisoner.

[Dodger tips his head.]

[Garrett shoves Dodger off his lap and onto the floor.]

Fuck your job. I can't sit at home as a damned prisoner and wait for you to get around to letting me out of my kennel twice a day.

[He puts his feet up on the couch and draws his knees in close to prevent being sat on again.]

[Dodger takes the shove and hits the floor with a satisfying thud. He doesn't even sit up, he just closes his eyes with his brows knitted in frustration.]

It's not up to me. Augustine doesn't take no for an answer, I don't get a choice in when I leave and when I get back. Which wasn't a problem until you showed up.

[Out of everything, the most frustrating thing is that they're still talking about this. While the dogs are pacing around and whimpering. And Crusher is wandering over to do his cute little stretch and yawn, and army crawl over to check on Dodger.]

[Dodger still doesn't sit up, but he reaches up to scratch Crusher's chin while glaring at Garrett.]

I've been asking you if you want to go out. So are we going or not?

[He takes another deep drink from the bottle and puts it down much harder than necessary.]

Sure. It's time for my daily walk, right? Don't want to miss my chance to be let out.

[Garrett meanders over to the door, looking for his shoes.]

[There's no heat behind it, just that hint of annoyance. Finally he rolls over and gets up, putting his hands on Stella and Crusher.]

I'll take the dogs out in pairs while you're getting ready.

[Which he does, teleporting back and forth to get the dogs through the door. At least there's no other bombs on the way out of the building.]

[Garrett gets his shoes on and lets Dodger teleport him out, but is still visibly cranky about it- and about the fact that he doesn't have the strength to hold most of the leashes, ending up only with Max and Angel.

Once they get properly outside and start walking, he finally speaks up.]

I need to be able to use the door.

No, you need to have your own place.

[He retorts easily, throwing Garrett a harsh look.

And of course he's holding the other five leashes in one hand, barely putting any effort in even while Crusher and Stella are excitedly pulling toward every interesting smell, and Fruitcup keeps trying to maneuver out of his way while they're moving forward.]

We already had this argument in Hell and I'm not justifying myself all over again. My space, my privacy, my rules.

[Garrett has to hold Angel's leash with his good hand just to keep from straining his bad shoulder. It's fucking embarrassing and adds to his bad mood.]

The difference here is that in Hell, I had somewhere to go. My own space. My dogs had somewhere to go. I wasn't trapped in there for hours.

And that's why you get your own place. Why are you so hell-bent on getting into my space when I'm telling you I want you out?

[Crusher finds a wrapper on the ground and Dodger yanks violently on his choke-chain, shaking it slightly until the dog spits it out.]

Fucking idiot... In case you hadn't noticed, I don't like dogs. I already put up with this sack of fur, I don't need all of yours too.

[At the show of force, Garrett's fist clenches reflexively, lighting up with tiny, flickering flames for a brief second before fizzling out again.]

What about trying to walk out the door screams "yes, Dodger, I want desperately to stay with you"?

[Dodger's own hands crackle with wisps of flames as he stops short and rounds on Garrett. The dogs are pulled along with it, and all turn to him with looks of confusion.]

Can you shut up for a second? I'm helping walk your dogs because you got hit by a car after you cropped up in my world. My apartment has one bedroom, and there are seven dogs and two humans in it. I don't want you or them to stay there, and if you're not staying there then you don't have to worry about the fucking door. Do you understand yet?
