Dodger nods, not responding at first while he taking a long puff. He gets it, new worlds are a lot. And without a welcome committee, he doesn't know how long he would have lasted in the two worlds he's been to. Well... the two he remembers visiting.

"It'll seem less big after a few months." Dodger's phone goes off and he gets up, stretching before wandering to the bathroom to grab his pills. One glowing pill down the hatch, before he shuffles back to grab Garrett's hand and lead him to the bedroom.

By the time Dodger returns to take his hand, Garrett has a bottle of whiskey in the other, and keeps it with him into the bedroom. As soon as they reach the bed he crumples down onto it.

"Sure," he says a little absently. "I'm so tired I might never move again. Hopefully."

A weird little addition at the end that he follows up with a quick drink from the bottle.

Dodger notices that last part, and it makes him pause. He takes another deep puff from his cigarette before following Garrett, crawling over to lay on top of him.

"I'll stick around 'til you're asleep, then." He presses a few kisses to Garrett's shoulder. "I gotta get some work down before sunrise, but it can wait a bit."

That gets Garrett's attention. It's hard to zone out lost in your own morose thoughts and screaming existential despair with a naked beefcake lying on you.

"Oh, that's... alright." He sounds a little surprised, almost, and sets the bottle aside on the nightstand in favor of settling his aching, exhausted arms around Dodger instead. "Falling asleep alone is still shit."

Dodger feels... very warm. Heavy. Solid. It's... it's actually really nice. With exhaustion settling in, Garrett only dimly remembers why it's surprising for this man's touch to feel nice, until an attempt at speaking reminds him vividly of how badly his throat hurts.

"You really liked making me suffer, didn't you?"

Dodger settles into Garrett's arms, happy to melt into those strong arms. Strong, even if they're weakened by the strain of the last few days. Just like Garrett, Dodger finds it comforting to have someone in his bed - to have Garrett in his bed specifically, is a gift.

But the question gets his attention, and he looks up with an unreadable expression.

"You liked it too, didn't you?"

Garrett's expression is hard to read as well, thoughtful and tired and shadows of something else mingled together. For a second he considers being honest, but-

"Are you kidding, I love being held down and forced while fighting back. It's one of my favorite things."

Given that it actually can be one of his favorite things sometimes, it could conceivably be taken as a real answer dressed up in smartassery.

Dodger's eyes scan Garrett's face, taken off-guard by the answer. It sounds sarcastic, but there's something in there... something Dodger is having trouble with, but he doesn't press it.

"You know I love you." He speaks quietly, his expression softening a bit. "I wouldn't hurt you more than you can handle. Not on purpose."

This is demonstrably false, but he's hoping it will comfort Garrett anyway.

Despite the appearance that he doesn't think before he speaks, there are often times when Garrett feels as though he can see different paths of action laid out before him: different ways to respond or choices to make that could take a conversation in wildly different directions. This is one of those moments.

He could snap. Right, I must have imagined that whole rape thing. And the stalking."

He could even say it back. It would probably be easy, in theory. Three words.

Instead, he takes the path he very rarely takes: a small moment of something approaching sincerity. Shallow, but real.

"It was just... very intense."

Dodger pauses to mull that over. For once, he takes Garrett seriously and considers the answer. And once he's processed it, he leans up to press a soft kiss to his lips.

"Sorry. I'll scale it back next time."

It's rare to get a clear answer from Garrett, and he figures he should reward it. Even if apologizing for anything makes him feel a little dirty.

The kiss is nice, but it leaves Garrett speechless for a moment. It's even rarer to get a genuine apology from Dodger. He just- needs a second to process it.

"Thanks."

He has to remind himself not to hope for things to be okay. This moment shouldn't mean anything. It shouldn't. It doesn't mean that things will be alright here or that he's anything approaching safe.

Without realizing, his hand is stroking Dodger's arm, a gentle affection that he isn't even aware of.

"I'd probably be better off if I knew what was going to happen ahead of time."

The gesture might be subconscious, but Dodger stills and then slowly relaxes as Garrett strokes his arm. Somehow, it feels a lot more genuine than any physical affection he's gotten in the past few years.

"Thought you liked surprises." He slides a hand down to trace meaningless patterns over Garrett's stomach. "Any time you show me something new, you don't tell me shit."

In turn, the affection makes Garrett relax a little, too. Dodger always knows how to touch him to get a reaction, whether positive or negative, and the sweet, gentle touches to his stomach are exactly what he needs.

"I let you go when you fight," he points out. "If I can't use my safe word when getting a surprise, then it's probably better to know what's going to happen first. I think..."

Dodger mulls this over, but he can't really argue with it. It seems fair enough.

"I want to put you in a cage." He mumbles, "When you were talking about it before, it really stuck with me."

His eyebrows shoot up in surprise. Maybe it shouldn't be surprising, actually, given how much Dodger harped on it yesterday, but actually hearing the words out loud is something else.

"I don't know," Garrett muses. It sounds pretty hot, yeah, but it's still a lot to agree to that kind of helplessness on purpose with Dodger of all people. "It's not exactly an experience I'm eager to repeat."

"You made it sound pretty great before." Dodger snorts, sitting up a bit so he can admire Garrett's face. "You get off on being humiliated, I figured you'd be into it."

His hand strays up to trace patterns on Garrett's chest, while Dodger seeks out another lazy kiss.

Garrett leans into that kiss, of course, enjoying the simple contact and closeness. Despite every reason to run screaming from this man, Garrett can't resist the sweetness of these quiet moments.

Dodger's smirk drops off of his face, and he gives Garrett a look as if Garrett is the one ruining the moment.

"Depends on what you define as stalking."

"I know you were coming into my room," he fires back, still irritated. "And watching me jack off, as well? Really?"

Garrett sits back, wracking his mind for any time that Dodger could have seen him doing... that. Truth be told, he doesn't know why he's even surprised at Dodger. Maybe because that was a period of their lives he hasn't thought about in a very, very long time.

"Really?" The cigarette earns Dodger another Look. "I didn't know when you were in there, but I could smell when you had visited."

Garrett reaches for the cigarette, intent on taking a drag himself.

Dodger flinches when Garrett reaches for his cigarette, but lets him take it with a glowering look.

"So what does that change? You knew I was around. I didn't do anything to you. And everyone in Hell knew what your dick looks like, it's not like I was watching something private."

Garrett takes a drag, then immediately puts it out on the nightstand and flicks it away. Just to be a dick. Also, because he still thinks cigarettes smell disgusting and he hates them.

"You knew it was wrong, or you wouldn't have been invisible." Irritably. "When exactly did you watch me jerk off? Was it frequent, or a special occasion?"

Figures. Dodger sets his jaw, before lighting a new one. This time he doesn't answer at first, creating a cloud of smoke around him first.

"Who is John Galt." He finally answers. He's moving to swing his legs over the side of the bed, so he can sulk with his back to the other man.

That utterly nonsensical response baffles Garrett enough that it takes him a minute to say anything. For all that he wracks his brain, he can't even begin to understand what the fuck it means.

"What?" Garrett rolls onto his side enough to try and prop himself up on his elbow, only to immediately collapse again from the strain of putting weight on his messed-up shoulders. "Was that some demon at the club you're jealous of?"

"No." He's gotten the confused response enough times that he doesn't even miss a beat. "It means 'don't ask questions you don't want the answers to'."

He looks back at Garrett warily, and his tail slides out to touch the man's arm.

"Don't push yourself, or you're going to make it worse."
