The reluctance in that kiss eats at Dodger a little, but he says nothing. He accepts the oyster readily, letting her feed him and licking his lips as a bit of the juice escapes into his beard.

"So I've heard." He leans closer again, somewhat hoping they can reclaim the atmosphere they had before the fight. "Not that I need any aphrodisiacs with you around."

Dodger lets her feed him again, and cuts a piece of steak to press against her lips. It is nice, the way that they can settle and try to forget everything that's wrong between them. "I love you." He murmurs, as if to remind her. And then, after a pause: "I wish we weren't here."

Garrett leans in and opens her mouth for him, taking in a bite of steak with her mouth already watering from the smell. She makes a soft sound of surprise then, like a tiny moan from how fucking good it is. It's probably the nicest piece of meat she's had in many years, like butter in her mouth as she chews it.

"Mmm," she answers his little three-word declaration. When she's able to talk, she asks, "Why? What do you wish we were doing?"

Dodger's shoulders lower a bit, a slow slump even as he feeds her another piece.

"Not just here. I wish we weren't in Boston, or this world. I miss being in Hell."

He worries his lip, and sets down the fork to cup her face and run his thumb along her cheek.

"I didn't have to care about anything there. I didn't matter anymore. There was something... nice, about thinking I'd never see any of these people again."

Garrett chews on her steak as she listens, turning his words over in her head. There's something relatable about it- when she first went to Zhautas, there was a true liberation in the thought of never going home. Especially when she found out what the future held for her in Thedas, she couldn't stomach the idea of returning to that horrible someday that promised violence and betrayal. But she never liked the thought of leaving her friends forever, and had only ever gotten on the ship because she was promised the possibility of her friends joining.

"I'm sorry, love," she says softly. "Personally, I'd rather be somewhere real even if it's shitty. If you don't like it here, why don't we just leave? The world is supposedly massive, so let's go somewhere else."

Dodger is quiet at that, mulling it over in his head. They could leave. Once upon a time he would have argued, claimed that Augustine needs him. His time in Hell has left him bitter, painfully aware that he needs his boss much more than his boss needs him. There was comfort in being a weapon, but that isn't who he is anymore.

"One of my contacts found an outlander in the city morgue." He mumbles, shifting the conversation suddenly. "She was missing for a while, but it looks like someone killed her. She never regenerated."

Garrett blinks in surprise at that, freezing with her hand on her wine glass. She's starting to get quite warm and flushed from alcohol, but is far from incapable of figuring out what that means - the outlanders are dying normally. Death is permanent here, in defiance of the laws of every prison world she's ever seen or heard of.

"Is it weird to be happy about that? It feels weird," she confesses, her face a somewhat funny, turbulent blend of emotions. "Are you saying that..."

That this world is real. It isn't just some passing fancy of the multiverse, but a final destination.

Dodger leans on Garrett, less flirtatious and more... tired. He nods.

"I told you. This is a real world. We're probably stuck here, for better or worse. And that's... part of why I want to focus on keeping you safe. If you die here, there's no coming back."

He sips a bit of his whiskey, and sets it down to seek out a kiss. When he speaks, it's much softer than before.

"Let's go home after we've eaten, alright? We can make some good use of that body of yours."

Garrett returns the kiss, this time with more enthusiasm than the last. Something about Dodger's concern and frank confessions of feeling have her quite a bit softer towards him than she was just a few minutes ago.

When they pull away, she answers with a teasing smile as she takes a bite of steak. "What happened to letting all your friends fuck me?"

"It can wait." He answers, pausing to cut off another bite of steak for her. "I think we need to lay a little more groundwork before I go introducing you to all of them."

He's starting to realize how much he underestimated Garrett's anxiety. Maybe... well, maybe he should focus on figuring out how Garrett feels, instead of just indulging his own desires.

"Besides, I haven't returned the favor for how you treated me the last time I turned."

Groundwork. That sounds... suspiciously like integrating Garrett into his life in a real way. Garrett smiles happily and eagerly accepts the next bite of steak, closing her sharp teeth around the fork and eying him warmly as she takes it. It is, again, absolutely delicious, and she can't resist a faint sound of appreciation at the luxury and incredible flavor of it.

"That's very true," she agrees, cutting a bite for Dodger, a little larger than what he's been feeding her. Garrett is well aware that they're being That Couple, but doesn't give a shit. "Feel free to dirty talk about the gang bang fantasy if you want, though. I was interested in hearing where you were going with it."

Dodger accepts the steak happily, letting his teeth bare as he takes it. The effect is ruined a bit, though, by the fact that his demonic teeth make it a little hard to chew with his mouth closed.

More importantly, though, she's giving him permission to fantasize again and that brings a grin to his face.
